HVC
Gundog Working Test at Cornbury Park
Even the inclement weather of
the Bank Holiday could not dampen the spirits of the 91 competitors who
turned up to support the HVC's Gundog Working Test at Cornbury Park. 7
Classes with a total of 13 judges helped keep the day going at a steady
pace, giving everyone time to compete their tests.
This year saw an entry of 126 dogs with a mammoth 42 HVs entered and 31 of
those HVs did compete. This year we had 4 Junior Handlers, 2 at under 13 and
2 at 14-18. Roy Cullen - having judged the puppy class in the morning went
on to judge and assess the very difficult Junior Handlers class, reaching
the conclusion that they were all excellent and he decided that they were
all winners and were all awarded permanent cups and plaques to mark their
success.
Rosemary and Graham Frost, ably assisted by Helen Sutton and Melissa, strove
to ensure that all 30 helpers and competitors were fed with jacket potatoes
filled with home made Chilli or Bean and sausage casserole, all complemented
by Rosemary's delicious home made cakes.
Gay Gottlieb held a conformation test and whilst we awaited the results Sara
Barnard ran a very successful scurry.
The HVc would like to congratulate all those who won awards and thank all
those who competed for braving the elements and joining us. We are
particularly grateful to the judges for their time and expertise, and to the
stewards and dummy throwers who are the faceless - but very important -
folks of the day. We would also like to thank Rosemary and Graham and the
rest of the support staff and all those who stayed at the end to load the
cars and trailers with wet and dirty equipment.

A very special thanks must be extended to Lord and Lady Rotherick for the
use of their wonderful grounds for our event.
The highlight of the day had to be the winner of the scurry, Radio, owned by
Andrea Zimmerman. Many of you will have read about Radio in the HVC
newsletter and how sick he has been, his unrivalled success on the day
can only be a testament to the love and support given to him by Andrea and
those who care for our breed.
